About.
ARTIST STATEMENT:
Working in painting, sculpture, printmaking, photography and textiles, my work explores central themes of materiality and temporality with an emphasis on the processes of making. I make work quickly and intuitively, allowing for chance and the subconscious mind to play key roles. The work is about the dialogue between conscious and subconscious, between material and artist agency and between the represented and the abstracted. The work walks the line between each dichotomy, retaining a fresh ambiguity.

Often making use of things found in skips or on the street, I also work with found objects and materials to emphasize sustainable practice and to objectify the importance of the connections we have with our environment. I am interested in the incidental marks that punctuate urban environments, from construction, from signage, the wear and repair of our environment. I like to use found materials as they behave as a document of activity that, when repositioned and doctored, can give value to something that is overlooked or discarded. The weathered, scratched and drawn on surfaces contain information of previous interaction that are then woven into new compositions, examining colour, form and texture.
